Mallorca is one of the most popular places to bike in Europe, attracting both pros (apparently a favourite destination for team Skye) and touring cyclists, who come for the climate, beaches and endless riding options. Starting from Palma our itinerary includes moderate rides through the traditional countryside of Mallorca, into (and over) the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range (declared World Heritage by UNESCO) which is dotted with charming villages, and finishing in the beachside town of Porto de Pollenca. The hotels are fabulous and the food is exquisite. This island paradise is yours to discover.

Day 1+2
Start your exploration of Palma by strolling through the historic center or to the beach. Dine at one of our recommended restaurants. Next day, a moderate option is to cycle east along dedicated bike paths that follows the southern coast past beaches to S’Arenal, Cala Blava and a splendid viewpoint at Cap Blanc before turning north along quiet roads through citrus groves and past fincas. Add-on climb to Puig de Randa if you are so inclined (pardon the pun). If you want to instead explore the hilly western side of the island, another alternative is a loop into the Western Sierra with climbs to Galilea and Andratx, then to Banyalbufar alongthe western coast before descending back to Palma.
Ride Distance D2: 74 km, elevation gain 390 m or 80 km, gain 2000 m.*
Day 3+4
Depart Palma along the southern coast, finishing at Puig de Ros Dalt (Classic trip) or Cala Blava (Luxe trip). Next day, ride to Llucmayor and then to hill-top monasteries at Santuari de Cura and to the Ermita de Bonany before returning to the hotel.
Ride Distance D3: 29 km, elevation gain 180 m or 72 km, gain 358 m.*
Ride Distance D4: 68 km, elevation gain 850 m or 100km, gain 1325 m.*
Day 5+6
Ride from the hotel to Llucmayor and then north through Algaida, Bunyola and on (and up) to Soller. Add-on a loop to Alaro and Orient if you want more climbing. Next day, ride a loop from Soller, enjoying lunch in the pretty town of Valdemossa or the artistic center, Deià. It’s a hilly route but the total gain is not so much that you won’t have extra time to explore Soller in the afternoon.
Ride Distance D5: 36 km, elevation gain 888 m or 80 km, gain 2000 m.*
Ride Distance D6: 52 km, elevation gain 1140 m.*
Day 7+8
Departing Soller climb to the charming village of Fornaltx before continuing on (and up) to Puig Mayor, and then to the Santuari de Lluc before descending the col de Femenia to the charming old town of Pollença and Porta Pollença.
The next day (Day 8) we provide two ride options for you. The first is an out and back ride to the Cap de Formentor lighthouse. It’s a short but hilly route. The other option is to climb up the Col de Femenia back to the Lluc monastery and descend to Campanet before returning to the Port de Pollença via a beach side path.
Ride Distance D7: 64 km, elevation gain 1700 m or 27 km, gain 140 m.*
Ride Distance D8: 36 km, elevation gain 888 m or 80 km, gain 2000 m.*
Day 9
Depart at your leisure for onward travel. Buses depart frequently to the Palma airport (travel time 1h30; cost 13€). Taxis from Porta de Pollenca to the Palma airport take 40 minutes and cost 120€.
*Distance and elevation gains may vary depending on hotels chosen for specific departure.
