Getting There Arrive via Rome or Florence (2 hours away from either by train). Torgiano is 15 km south of Perugia and can be reached easily by taxi on arrival at the train station. Your information package will provide information about getting to the tour start. The trip finishes in Orvieto, which is on the Rome-Florence train line (1 hr. 45 to Florence & 1 hr. 20 to Rome). There are some 14 trains per day and we give you the flexibility to take whichever one suits your schedule.

Day 1

Torgiano

Arrival in Torgiano. You’ll stay at Hotel Al Grappolo D’Oro, ideally located in the historical center of this wine village. If you arrive early enough, you can visit the wine and olive oil museums, a short stroll from the hotel before an included dinner at the restaurant here. Your bikes will be at the hotel waiting for you.

Day 2

Bevagna

Riding east of Torgiano, you’ll make your way to Assisi, the hometown of St. Francis, Italy’s patron saint and founder of one of the world’s largest monastic orders. The town itself is tiered with pink stone set in a verdant valley with sacred Mt.Subasio as a backdrop. You’ll have the chance to visit the important monuments here with lots of excellent restaurants to choose from. Afterwards, continue along a cycling path to the quaint village of Spello, filled with interesting shops and galleries. In Bevagna, stay at Palazzo Brunamonti, a former palace recently converted into a distinctive hotel in the historical center.

Day 3

Bevagna

Your cycling route on this day will include options to Trevi and Spoleto. Each are hill-towns seductively medieval in appearance with great restaurants and cafes.

Bevagna

If you rode to Trevi yesterday, you could ride to Spoleto today, with a diversion to Montefalco, where superb views, and great wines await. Finish your trip with a restaurant meal in our favourite enoteca in town.

Departure day. Be sure to spend a final few moments enjoying the delights of Bevagna before you travel to your next destination.

A 19th century residence recently converted into a comfortable 3-star hotel with beautiful gardens and swimming pool.


Palazzo Brunamonti, Bevagna

A charming 3-star hotel, once a noble house belonging to the poetess Lady Brunamonti. Restaurants are steps away.


Luxe

La Tre Vaselle, Torgiano

This 5-star hotel is a renovated 17th century manor house with thick stone walls, wooden beams, terracotta floors and a great stone fireplace. There is a fine outdoor swimming pool, and a restaurant Le Melograne.


L'Orto degli Angeli, Bevagna

Located in the historic centre of Bevagna, this intimate inn and restaurant exudes the genuine warmth of a private home, yet offers the comfort and sophistication of a fine hotel. It’s one of our favourites in Italy. *this hotel is currently closed so we will be booking Palazzo Brunamonti until it reopens.
