In the event that the coastal trail (Senturo Azzuro #2) between Vernazza and Riomaggiore is closed, an alternative is to walk Senturo #2 Monterossa to Vernazza , take the train to Corniglia (4 minutes, one stop), then alternate trails from Corniglia to Riomaggiore.

Trip Reviews

May 28, 2022

“Loved walking through vineyards, seeing so many wildflowers, the incredible views of the sea, cliffs, old castles and picturesque towns. Loved the freedom of being on our own but knowing our bags would arrive each day at the hotel. Such a gorgeous area to explore. The food was incredible, and I appreciated the notes on what to try – so much wonderful seafood, focaccia and pesto! Really appreciated how helpful our Area Manager was. She was knowledgeable, friendly and got right back to us whenever we had questions. Most hotels were excellent. Restaurant recommendation for Portovenere was fabulous and great service. The towns in Cinque Terre are picturesque and in beautiful surroundings. The hikes were mostly great, though the day hiking through the Cinque Terre towns was at times over-crowded – and is quite challenging. Those 1200 steps down at the end – Wow! Really enjoyed our time walking through the town of Campiglio – had a nice leisurely visit there, since the hike wasn`t that far. And we happened to be there on a major day of rowboat racing, which was fun to see. In Lerici, the chef created a special tasting menu for us – we had a wonderful time there. The hotel was great with a nice big patio with lounge chairs overlooking the beach and town.”
