Day 1
Nice
A stroll through Nice… Charming but cosmopolitan, Nice offers the walker lush gardens, narrow, winding streets through the old quarter, and the elegant Promenade des Anglais along the shore.
Day 2
Cap St-Jean Ferrat
The peninsula of Cap Ferrat forms an integral part of the settings for both Villefanche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer. It can also claim fame on its own merits as the site for some of the most sumptuous villas on the Riveria. Some of the best known include the Rothschild Villa, now open to the public as the Fondation Ephrussi de Rothschild, and the Villa Mauresque, once owned by Somerset Maugham and where celebrities were entertained including Noël Coward, Winston Churchill and the Duke of Windsor. Walking around the peninsula gives you glimpses of exclusive villas, a feel for the exotic best of the Côte d’Azur, as well as stunning scener.
Day 3
Menton
Monaco to Menton… This is perhaps the best known and most stunning of the coastal walks along the Riviera. Along with the views of the famous coastal towns, there are tranquil portions to this walk, where you can pause among pine trees to watch the turquoise surf wash among the white rocks, edged with black and yellow. You will also walk past rhododendrons, honeysuckle and huge cactus plants. The full walk could take up to four hours This is a largely level stroll, with a few sets of stairs or small climbs. This walk could also be combined with sightseeing in Monte Carlo and/or Menton. Yacht malls, villas and especially gardens are the hallmarks of this beautiful town, famous for its lemon trees and festival.
Day 4
Eze
The eagle’s nest of Eze… This walk is a loop that begins near sea level and winds up to the magnificent perched village of Èze. One of the most famous features of Èze is the Jardin Exotique or Exotic Garden. Created in 1950, the garden grows in layers of terraces. Of particular pride is the collection of succulents. The views are particularly fine from the top of the ruined castle; on a clear day you can see Corsica in the early morning.
